The city is famous for its troglodyte houses, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ancient neighborhoods, called Sassi, together with the cisterns and the water collection system, are characteristic of this city. These are small and ancient houses carved into the rock, built near the Gravina di Matera, a wide valley that divides the territory into two parts: the Sasso Barisano and the Sasso Caveoso. Visiting Matera is like going back to a forgotten past. When you visit this fascinating city in Basilicata, you have the feeling of entering a living cradle. It is no coincidence that Matera is also called the "second Bethlehem". Adult €70.00 – Reduced 3-12 €65.00
